In August '21, I received a request from the galleryIdeelartfor a a commissioned painting of 120 x 160 cm, based onPoetry of life 6. A commission of such a large scale work is always challenging, especially because I'm a process painter and I don't work with a specific plan or sketches. Therefore I can't say in advance how the result will look like.
This is just a short snippet of me making oil paint from pigments and linseed oil. I always thought that making your own paint from pigments is a lot of hassle...
I started new works on Terraskin paper, size 100x70cm each. In this video you see me building the first layers. White paint, medium and an Artgraf which is made of water soluble graphite.
Life is a chain of events, big and small, happy and not so joyful happenings which evoke emotional responses continuously. With this series of paintings, my intention is to give expression to this chain of events not through words, but through paint, with visual elements, marks, textures and a history of layers in the paint surface.
