A dark passage gives the eye somewhere to arrive, but the lighter colour soon draws it further. Pink, ochre and yellow open around the denser marks, while loose lines reach into the surrounding space. There is something quietly companionable about the balance: enough presence to catch your attention, enough openness to let you spend time with it.
