Bold passages of black, orange and red move diagonally through a pale, disrupted field. Scraped surfaces, fragmented colour and forceful gestures create a sense of momentum, while quieter areas interrupt and redirect the movement. More expressive in character, the painting preserves the urgency of its making while allowing an underlying structure to emerge.
Created as part of my ongoing studio practice, this independent artwork reflects a process of layering, revision and decision-making in which each gesture responds to what came before.
